SHONA JOY

CLOSING A MUCH LOVED LABEL ON IT’S OWN TERMS

THE BRIEF

In a year of high-profile Australian fashion collapses,, any label closing would be read as the next casualty. Shona Joy's story was different: a profitable, self-funded, 26-year-old business closing because its founder chose family.

THE SOLUTION

The first version of a closure story is the one that sticks. By setting the narrative before speculation could, we could turn a potential retail-failure headline into a story about legacy, success and a founder stepping back on her own terms, while protecting the brand, its staff and its customers.

THE RESULTS

TMC gave the exclusive to The Australian Financial Review, so the story broke in Australia's leading business masthead with the financial facts up front. We prepared Shona Thatcher to tell it in her own words

The AFR broke the story online on 26th October and then page 3 News on 27 October 2026, and it was picked up nationally by Mamamia, The Daily Aus, Broadsheet, Ragtrader, Elle, Marie Claire, 7News and more, every outlet telling the same story.
